Divorce ban may be put to vote in California

The office of the Secretary of State of California recently approved a Sacramento man's request to collect signatures to add a ban on divorce to the state's voters ballot. The campaign has been named the 2012 California Marriage Protection Act and is said to be inspired by last year's vote to prevent gay marriage in the state.

For many in the state, the campaign does not appear to be a serious effort, and many people believe that it may have been started to satirize last year's ban on gay marriage.
