Rise in baby boomer divorce rates

The divorce rate of elderly Americans has seen an increase in recent years as the baby boomer generation reaches the age of retirement.

According to researchers at Bowling Green University, the divorce rate of adults between the age of 50 and 64 has increased to nearly one in every four marriages.

This number has increased from one in every 10 marriages in 1990. Because the baby boomer generation is reaching retirement and their lifestyles are changing drastically, this can be tough on a marriage.

If it is a good marriage, they can withstand the strain, but marriages that are not as strong, may not. Many people put a lot of their identity into the career and when it is over, they go into a sort of crisis. Also, some spouses who have stayed at home for years now have to adjust to spending time with their spouses.
